What in the world IS this site?
The idea is simple: to try and make a million dollars (US) by selling 100,000,000 pixels for 1 cent each.
The principle for this came from a guy name Alex Tew and his site The Million Dollar Homepage (www.themilliondollarhomepage.com).
I thought it was a great idea, and I have tried to improve on it. I felt that the only problem with his site is that the blocks of 10x10 pixels that he was selling for $100 were too small to display anything meaningful. So, I've devised a way to give significantly more screenspace to interested parties for the same price. Plus, it adds an element of fun and exploration.
'The Million Dollar Zoom" is set up in a grid of 10,000 x 10,000 pixels. When you first visit the site, the entire grid is displayed in a 400 x 400 pixel window, so each block looks like a little dot. Using the control panel, the visitor can zoom in significantly to see the complete image. The Million Dollar Zoom viewer does not load the entire image at once; it only loads the specific pieces of the image that the visitor wants to see.
You can buy as many pixels as you like, as long as there are some available. When you buy some pixels, you can then display an image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. You can also have the image click through to your own website. However, no obscene or offensive images are allowed. Obviously, the first people to buy will have more prime "real estate" to choose from toward the center of the page.
How long will this page be up?
At least until January 1st, 2011, and hopefully much longer!
Is it possible to purchase pixel real estate on the page with the intent to resell it if the site fills up? Kind of purchasing a block as an investment.
Yes, that is fine. However, you are not able to submit an image and URL now, and change it later. What we can do is put up a generic "Reserved" graphic in the block you want. The deadline for providing the image and link will be exactly one month after the date that the last pixel block sells. The image, URL, and rollover text must be sent from the email address that made payment for the block.

Feel free to contact me with any suggestions or questions at pixels@milliondollarzoom.com

STEP 1: Please read these simple guidelines:
- Pixels are sold in blocks of 10,000, measuring 100x100 pixels. The cost is $100 per block.
- Images must be submitted in either GIF, JPEG or TIF format. TIF's are best, & highly recommended, since all images will have to be re-compressed to appear on milliondollarzoom.com. Make sure your image is exactly the correct size. We will not shrink/enlarge/resize images. No animated GIFs will be accepted, only static images please.
- Once your image and link are published on the main page, there are no refunds. No payments are refunded or prorated for any reason.
- When you purchase pixels, you are buying advertising space, not any part of this site or rights to the site itself.
- You must be the proprietor of the site you are advertising, or authorized to promote it.
- XXX or explicit sites are not acceptable, sorry. On that note, the image you submit should not be lewd or explicit. Which sites or images are deemed offensive is determined by Million Dollar Zoom and is at our discretion.
- If the site your image links to is later changed to include unacceptable material, your image and link will be removed. No refunds apply.
- Once your image and link are posted, you cannot alter them. Make sure you are happy with your image before submitting.
- Purchase price for pixels must be paid in full. Once funds are cleared, the image and link will go live on the home page within 48 hours.
STEP 2: Place your order for pixel blocks by clicking the PayPal button. Be sure to specify the correct number of blocks you are buying through the quantity field on PayPal. Block quantities must match the rectangular or square image provided. Incorrect submissions will be denied and refunded.
STEP 3: Email your pixel image to sales@milliondollarzoom.com with the following:
- Attach your image as a TIF, GIF or JPEG (must be correct size for the pixels purchased). TIF's are recommended.
- [Optional] Specify where you prefer your graphic to be placed on the homepage ("Section C3, block 67"). I will do my best to accomodate these requests. If that specific space is no longer available, I will put your image as close to it as possible.
- Specify the website you would like your pixels to link to (must begin with 'http://')
- Include the text you want to appear when visitors move their mouse over your image, max. 50 characters.
